BARMA — a reverse marketplace for car parts and auto services in Kazakhstan
In short: BARMA is a mobile app where a buyer describes what they need once, and shops, garages and dealers send offers. There are three kinds of request: a part, an auto service, or buying a car. Offers are compared by a 0–100 trust index and an AI summary. The developer is PRAGMEX LLP, Almaty, Kazakhstan.
What is BARMA?
BARMA is a reverse marketplace: the buyer publishes the request and the sellers answer. An ordinary marketplace works the other way round — the buyer browses listings, phones shops and compares prices by hand. In BARMA the request goes out to every seller whose profile matches: make, year, city. Assembling a request takes about thirty seconds.
How is BARMA different from an ordinary parts search?
By the direction of the deal. In an ordinary search the buyer does the work: calling, messaging, comparing. In BARMA the sellers do the work — they see a request that matches their profile and send an offer themselves, while the buyer only has to choose. The comparison is not limited to price: the trust index, stock availability, real photos of the part, a confirmed VIN and the delivery time all carry weight alongside price.
What kinds of request can I publish?
Three kinds, each with its own set of fields:
- A part — by VIN, or by make, model, year and powertrain.
- An auto service — repair, maintenance, detailing.
- Buying a car — with preferences for engine, drivetrain and colour.
For a car request the recommendation weights are different: the buyer's preferences are taken into account, not just the price.
What is the 0–100 trust index?
It replaces five stars. The index is assembled from closed deals, reviews left after a deal actually happened, and confirmed quality badges. It is visible before you start messaging a seller, so a comparison rests on checkable signals rather than promises.
How does the AI lay out the offers?
Once offers arrive, the app analyses them itself and shows seven answers to the question "which one should I take": the recommended choice, everything in one place, maximum saving, fastest, most reliable, partial offers, and made to order. Each option is labelled with its reason.
The recommendation is computed from six signals: the supplier's trust index, the price relative to the average for that request, stock availability, real photos of the part, a confirmed VIN, and the delivery time. "Maximum saving" is assembled item by item — the lowest price for each item taken from different suppliers, rather than the cheapest single offer overall. The analysis runs on the device rather than in a chat, which makes it explainable: you can see why each block was chosen.
Who is the product for?
Buyers. Private owners and anyone with more than one car: the app holds a garage, and the active car carries the requests. Parts, services and cars are requested from one place, and the comparison runs across items, prices, lead times and warranty.
Sellers. Shops, garages and detailers: a feed of incoming requests already filtered to their profile (makes, years, city), funnel analytics and subscriptions, and a storefront with AI video previews.
What else is inside the app?
- Powertrain-aware catalogue. When ICE, HEV, PHEV or BEV is selected, the catalogue removes categories that physically do not exist in that powertrain.
- 182 car makes in the catalogue.
- Request completeness is shown as a percentage — you can see what is missing before publishing.
- VIN and photo check. OCR of the vehicle registration document runs offline, on the device.
- Two modes in one app — buyer and seller; no separate seller account is needed.
Who develops BARMA?
PRAGMEX LLP (ТОО «PRAGMEX») — BIN 220840038883, Almaty, Kazakhstan. PRAGMEX does full-cycle development and builds its own IT products; BARMA is one of them. The company's other products and services are described at pragmex.kz.
The site barmaapp.com is the app's public page, not an online store: no orders are taken and no payments are processed through the site, and the 182-make catalogue lives inside the app.
Which languages does BARMA support?
Russian, Kazakh and English — in one app, switchable on the fly. The site has three language versions: Russian, Kazakh and English. These are translations of the same material, not separate products.
What is the current status?
The app is getting ready to ship on the App Store and Google Play. It cannot be downloaded yet, both links are marked "soon", and the release date will be announced on the site.
What this site does not have
Prices or tariffs — the product is not sold through the site. A phone number or a physical address — none is published on the site. A shop, a cart or a checkout — there are none: the site describes the product rather than selling it.
